From the Silver Age & the Xtreme 90s: Two Volume Sixes that will Make Your Bookshelf Sag
What makes a Volume 6 omnibus so special, you might ask? Any collector will tell you: because now instead of five volumes, you have six. Seems pretty reasonable to us!
And we at MonsterVox are excited to feature two volume 6s (or Volumes Six if you’re an English major) from two of our favorite titles.
So, watch your six! (You knew it was coming.)
FIRST FAMILY
First Steps
No superhero team exemplifies the gloriosity of the omnibus than the FF!
Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 6, is a towering collection of Marvel’s cosmic legacy. This tome builds on the earlier collections with its comprehensive scope, pulling readers back into the cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe.
With the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps reboot from Marvel Studios on the horizon, there’s no better time to dive back into the adventures of Marvel’s First Family, and this omnibus delivers.
The Bull Pen, Working Overtime!
The Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 6 showcases the groundbreaking work of Roy Thomas, George Perez, and a roster of Marvel’s finest, with Jack Kirby’s iconic cover art setting the glorious standard once again.
The cosmic vistas, interdimensional battles, and the looming presence of Galactus, whose shadow in the recent Fantastic Four trailer hints at the epic stakes awaiting us, pull us into every panel.
This collection rekindles the awe of the Silver Age, pushing Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben’s relationship into bold new territories.
Every Family Has Issues
This new volume continues Marvel’s signature blending of high-stakes adventure with interpersonal drama. Reed’s relentless curiosity, Sue’s quiet strength, Johnny’s fiery bravado, and Ben’s gruff heart remind us why they’re the cornerstone of the Marvel universe.
The storytelling here, crafted by Roy Thomas and others, builds on the legacy of Stan Lee and The King (no quotation marks required) Jack Kirby.
What makes their stories so special is their ability to capture the Fantastic Four’s role as pioneers. They’re not just fighting villains; they’re questioning existence itself, humanity’s place in the cosmos, the price of power, and the rites of passage that make (or break) a family.

The Ol’Canucklehead SlashES ThrU the 90s
Logan’s Darkest Hour, Bub
X-Men diehards, listen up. Wolverine Omnibus Vol. 6 is packed with Logan’s grittiest, most gut-punching tales, written by the one and only Larry Hama, with art from Adam Kubert and Leinil Yu.
This newest volume drags Logan through the dirt (well, new dirt). Without his adamantium skeleton, he’s a snarling mess, on the edge of a beast mode far beyond any berserker rampages in his past.
Hama, the G.I. Joe legend, spins a signature saga of loss, rage, and redemption (until Wolvie’s next berserker rampage, of course). It’s raw, intense, bone-crunching action with all the trademark Loganisms we know and love.
Art That Pops Like Adamantium Claws
Okay, we need to face up to this: there was a point in the 90s when comic book art just got a little much, especially with the X-men (Onslaught Anyone?). But this new volume, thankfully, skirts the painfully angular, incomprehensibly abstract art of other mutant epics (Age of Apocalypse comes to mind…yeesh).
In fact, when you flip through this Volume 6, you’ll find a great variety of artistic interpretations and scenes that work the panels instead of polluting them with weird shapes, solid work that explores both classic and innovative depictions of a progressively regressive Wolverine.
...The Final Panel
“But I don’t have the first five volumes,” you say. “So, why would I start with Volume 6?”
We really shouldn’t dignify that question with a response. But here goes:
It’s a universe, just jump in. Yes, you’ll be a little confused, but hey, there will never be enough time to read everything in the Marvel canon anyway, so why not start in the middle somewhere, and work your way outwards.
Or slash your way. Whatever works.
